My Rejected Christmas Card

This is what I wanted to send out this year.  My wife voted against the idea.

Life By The Drop - Doyle Bramhall

Many fans of Stevie Ray Vaughan know the track "Life by the Drop" off of the posthumously released album "The Sky is Crying", but many do not know it was written by his close friend and co-song writer Doyle Bramhall.

Bramhall, who passed away in November of 2011, was a band mate of both Stevie and his older brother Jimmie Vaughan. It is believed to have been written about Bramhall and Vaughan, and the paths their lives took what they did to themselves and those around them due to their own substance abuse.

The version released by Vaughan is easily found by a simple search. This version was released off of Bramhall's 2003 album "Fitchburg Street".

Video from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaac in Lafayette, LA

Isaac has come and gone, and sadly our neighbors to the south east have taken some heavy damage from winds and flooding.  In Lafayette, we did not get nearly what was expected.  Gusty winds and some rain, but most of which less severe than a typical South Louisiana thunderstorm.  Some damage occurred, but nothing compared to what coastal parishes received.

I had planned on documenting  the progression of the weather as it worsened, and ended up stopping after four videos as it stayed mostly unchanged.  Here are the four videos recorded and posted to my youtube page.

Comments Printed in The Daily Advertiser

After discussing it on twitter, I got to talk to a writer from the Daily Advertiser about my thoughts on the Glen Stewart debacle.

I'm happy to be allowed to have a voice in the community, I do wish I would have better worded my thoughts, as they come off a bit disjointed, but she printed them just as I said them, and that I appreciate.
